Ngula Bulgarabang Circuit, Blue Mountains NSW

Walking in Ngula Bulgarabang Regional Park is mostly on fire trails, with a foot track to excellent views of the Megalong Valley.

Ngula Bulgarabang Circuit, Blue Mountains

Ngula Bulgarabang Regional Park is a new conservation area (from 2019) on the edge of Katoomba. Views of the Megalong Valley from Megalong Head are very nice, and there are a few trails you can take to make a circuit route.

Much of the walking is on fire trails, with a few impact tracks, including one to Megalong Head for those views. Nothing spectacular but it made for an easy evening walk, and we had nice lighting on the day we did it. There were also quite a few parrots about (eg, crimson rosellas) in the early evening.  Track notes at the end.

Track Notes

Ngula Bulgarabang Circuit, Blue Mountains
This route is on obvious fire trails and impact tracks for much of the way. We walked clockwise. The main difficulty will be finding the track that runs downhill to the pool – it’s not marked and not at all obvious, though fine once you are on it. If you don’t have a topo map and GPS then you might consider walking anticlockwise as navigation will be easier.

The route we walked was clockwise mostly on fire trails, with an impact track to the views near Megalong Head. There was also an impact track running downhill to the pool. This will be hard to find without a topo map and GPS. It will probably be easier to find at the pool end, and so you could walk anticlockwise. I’ve rated this route moderate mainly for the navigation to the pool, and slightly uneven ground on the foot tracks. At the easy end of moderate I’d say.
