The Mt Stilwell Walk was quite a find for us, as we’d walked other routes from Charlotte Pass before without giving it much attention. It turned out to be a great short walk with views of the Main Range, and over the boulder strewn alpine plateau to the south of the summit. There were numerous wildflowers in summer which added to the appeal. You also get to bag a 2040m peak while you’re at it: bonus 🙂
Overall this is a better walking experience than traipsing all the way out to Kosciuszko with the crowds. Although it’ll only take about 1.5 hours so you’ll need another walk to make a day of it. Track notes at the end.
Mt Stilwell Walk: The Scenery

Track Notes

The track is easy to follow, and starts next to the toilets at the end of Kosciuszko Road. If you just want views of the Main Range you can stop at the chairlift. There’s more information on the NPWS website.
