There’s very attractive scenery along Molonglo Gorge, with an orange tinged rocky riverbed and steep, often arid banks on the south side. It’s an easy and relatively short walk, although getting down to the Molonglo River in places is steep on informal tracks. An excellent half day option on the outskirts of Canberra that I really enjoyed.
Track notes at the end.
Molonglo Gorge Nature Reserve to Blue Tiles: The Scenery

I took a bunch more photos on the way back, and we visited perhaps the nicest accessible section of the river.

Track Notes

When we visited, the Google Maps directions were a little off once we got to near the reserve, so you might have navigate manually the last few turns. From the Molonglo Picnic Area you take the track along the river to the picnic tables at Blue Tiles, and return the same way. Visiting some of the scenic spots on the river requires steep descents on informal impact tracks, and sometimes rock hopping down on the river. There’s more information on the nature reserve on the Parks ACT webiste.
