Makarora Bush Nature Walk

The Makarora Bush Nature Walk is a short stroll through attractive native forest, starting on the highway near the DOC office in Makarora. We did it on our way out and then back on the all day Mt Shrimpton Track. I thought it was nice enough to give it its own post.

It’s a 1km loop walk, flat, and will take maybe 15 minutes. A good leg stretcher on the Haast Highway, connecting Otago with the West Coast. Further up the road (towards the West Coast) is the longer Blue Pools Walk. There’s further information on walks in this area on the DOC website.
