The Invincible Mine Track is a good easy-to-moderate walk through beech forest and manuka trees to an old gold mine. There are excellent views up the Rees Valley from the mine. I originally chose this as a warm up walk before we hit the longer trails, and it served that purpose nicely.
The walk is a shortish drive from Glenorchy on an unsealed road with some fords, and there’s more information on the DOC website. The track goes on past the mine until it reaches Invincible Creek. If you are able to cross the creek it’s possible to continue up Muddy Spur for more views.
